Study and application of value enhancement strategies for managers and owners of lodging and foodservice facilities focusing on investment underwriting, management contracts, franchising, portfolio management, strategic investment analysis, operations analysis and marketing strategies.
3. Hospitality Service Operations Management
Applications of techniques to create, operate staff and evaluate service systems for hospitality enterprises. Emphasis on forecasting demand, scheduling and quality management to maximise guest value perceptions, satisfaction and profitability; application of strategic advantages of operations management.
4. Hospitality Enterprise Technologies
An examination of the organizational foundations of systems and their emerging strategic role; and introduction to real-world systems, focusing on their relationship to organizations, management, and business processes.
Providing the technical foundation for understanding information systems, describing hardware, software, storage, and telecommunication technologies that comprise an organization's information (IT) infrastructure, describing how all of these information technologies work together through the Internet to create a new infrastructure for e-commerce and e-business.
5. Contemporary Issues in the Hospitality Industry
Study major trends occurring in the lodging industry; develop analytical and interpretive skills; environmental scanning and analysis; qualitative trends affecting general, task, industry segments and functional environments of lodging organizations.
6. Financial Management for the Hospitality Industry
Capital investment analysis, cost of capital, mergers, consolidations, earnings management, and current financial issues.
7. E-Commerce for the Hospitality Industry
Managerial and organisational implications examined in this course present the important relationships between a business and the technology that runs a business on the Internet. Security and integrity of data traffic through encryption, firewalls, and other electronic devices and software.
